Week 5

This week, I completed the animation of the juice box and finalized poses for two characters.

Week 12

I adjusted the color of the water to make it look more like stale or murky water and added more stains to the glass, helping to unify the overall atmosphere with a consistent aged feel.

Week 11

I’ve studied rendering settings and camera configuration in preparation for the final render.

Week 10

I learned how to import character models and started adjusting the mermaid. Since the model’s face lacks bone rigging, I plan to partially cover it with floral elements to address the inoperable areas. Additionally, I intend to add more aquatic plants to the tank to enhance the sense of abandonment and age in the scene.

Draft Sketch

Noticing that the mermaid model looked particularly vibrant underwater, I experimented with changing the composition to submerge her. However, from a distant view, she became difficult to distinguish as she blended with the underwater elements and the color of the water. As a result, I ultimately reverted to having her float on the surface.

Week 9

This week, I unified the wall textures on the second floor to create a more cohesive look. From Fab, I selected a mermaid model with vibrant colors, hoping that its bright tail would add a strong focal point to the scene.

Week 8

After studying several tutorials on creating the Tyndall effect, I’m planning to fine-tune the lighting to make the light beams more visually pronounced.

The final adjusted result is roughly as shown in the image. I experimented with lighting of different intensities: Option 1 (P1) uses very strong light, which can focus attention on the mermaid like a spotlight, but it is too intense to blend well with the environment. Therefore, I ultimately chose Option 2 (P2) as the final version.

Week 7

The aquarium has been integrated into the environment, and the static water effect looks good. After adjusting the lighting, with direct light passing through the window, the overall water body now appears darker and looks quite aged, which aligns well with the initial concept. I also added more stones inside the aquarium to make it resemble more of a breeding tank.

Week 6

After multiple attempts following different tutorials, I’ve created water with collision effects and plan to test it in the scene first to see how it performs. I’m not very proficient in programming and can only follow tutorials step by step at the moment, without a deep understanding of the underlying logic. The current water surface effect looks more like jelly in terms of texture. However, since my character won’t be active underwater, I intend to keep and use this water effect for now.

Week 5

This week, I systematically studied water simulation techniques and went through numerous tutorials. The current plan is to achieve realistic hair movement for the character underwater.

I’ve located relevant texture assets and gathered a collection of reference materials for water effect design. However, I haven’t yet found specific tutorials on creating murky water effects with suspended particulate matter. I plan to add aquatic plants to the water to enhance the natural feel and visual depth of the scene.

Week 4

This week, I studied various lighting approaches and techniques, learning how to add HDR, adjust exposure, and work with volumetric scattering.
